Being Human Rant:
This wasn’t the way things were supposed to go. Like, seriously? No. I know the actors were leaving, so they should have concluded their stories and the series overall in a nice way; not make this ridiculous story line and ending that ends with all the main characters nonexistent.
It’s different in shows like Skins or American Horror Story cause we know that there might not be a great ending and that these characters aren’t permanent. But even those shows conclude character’s lives better than Being Human did from the season 3 finale to season 4 episode 1. Now I love Annie, but I can’t keep watching the show knowing that those other characters aren’t coming back. I don’t give a damn about Eve if there is no Nina and George. The show is over for me after that 1st episode.
From reading about where the season goes and ends on Wikipedia, I know it will be a waste of time because these characters deserved more. The writer’s ruined a good thing. Id rather have it end at season 3 than go on to be this bullshit that is season 4 and soon to be 5.
It’s your prerogative not to watch it. I don’t think Series 4 is a waste — it completes the original trio (+Nina)’s story. Yes, even though 3/4 were gone. It introduces a couple of the show’s best characters, and returns to its roots with a friendship/family-building theme and humor. There are big changes, but that doesn’t undermine what the show is about. Change, sometimes painful, is part of being human.
But then, you might not want to listen to me, because I think Series 3 is one of the greatest pieces of vampire/monster fiction ever created. It doesn’t go the way things are “supposed” to go (ie the way we’ve come to expect things to go) — it does things that really had not been done before, in a genre that has been trivialized and sapped of originality. S3 is so underrated, imo, even by fans.
Series 5… well, that’s another story. But don’t knock it sight unseen, some people think it’s the best series.
